Little Truckee Ice Creamery, Truckee and North Tahoe’s only Locally Hand Crafted Full Service Ice Cream Shop is hiring a lead Ice Cream Maker and an assistant Ice Cream maker. This position is Full Time Seasonal (or potentially year round). 40 hrs a week with a flexible schedule.
Lead Ice Cream Chef is responsible for all aspects of Ice Cream production:
The Ice Cream Maker should be willing to work alone when the assistant is not on the schedule. Operating the machine is a one person job. There will be regular service staff in the building from 12-9pm every day, but the kitchen and dairy room is the realm of the the ice cream maker. Some days are all about ingredient prep and other days are dedicated to running the ice cream machine.
Ice Cream Makers Assistant responsibilities
Ice Cream maker and assistant must be able to lift and pour 5 gallon bags of dairy which are around 45 lbs each. We also move and stack tubs of ice cream that weight around 15-20 lbs. Stirring large quantities of Caramel and Brittle is physically demanding and requires standing at the stove for up to an hour. Must be willing and able to work alone at times.
We are happy to train all aspects of Ice Cream production, however, we prefer some commercial kitchen experience. Once hired, kitchen staff must obtain a food handlers card. Efficiency in the kitchen is very important. Ability to Multi-Task is VERY important in our high paced kitchen. An example is to be able to get the machine started on a batch of ice cream and in the 10 minutes the batch is running, you would be working towards prepping the next batches ingredients, labeling and packing pints, or doing dishes.
Lead $20-26 hr DOE plus bonus
Assistant $16-20 DOE plus bonus
