TTUSD strives to provide “Pathways to Possibilities and Student Success” for all of its scholars with a rigorous education that is characterized by academic excellence, critical thinking skills, and outstanding character among its students.
To ensure it is meeting the needs of all of its students, TTUSD offers a wide range of educational opportunities throughout the District. Each school within TTUSD provides a high-level curriculum delivered in a small school setting. Students have choices and are able to customize their learning experience.
Our district encompasses more than 720 square miles serving California's Nevada, Placer, and El Dorado counties. We are proud to have the lowest district-wide class size ratios in Placer County and serve just over 4,000 students in our 12 schools. To round out their educational experience, TTUSD provides scholars with a wide range of extracurricular activities including band, clubs and sports such as soccer, football, track, cross-country, volleyball, basketball, tennis, snowboarding, Nordic and Alpine skiing.
The District recognizes that the Tahoe Truckee region and our natural surroundings are precious and takes every learning opportunity possible to encourage environmental stewardship among its scholars.
TTUSD schools enjoy tremendous support from our community. An example of this is our recognition as an ''All-America City'' by the National Civic League recognizing a community-wide collaboration to dramatically increase the number of students reading at grade level by the end of third grade.

I have the best job in the whole world and I’ve had it for 34 years! I get to spend six hours a day with kids and witness their learning and growth right before my eyes. I love seeing the light in their eyes and it’s such a wonderful feeling to build connections with students and watch them blossom and become amazing people. I’m getting paid to do something that I so love to do! Anna Davis - Second Grade Teacher Truckee Elementary
I really like working here. It feels good to be doing something positive for the kids, the teachers, and the school. We have really good people at TTUSD and everyone is so friendly. I take great pride in my work and always want to do my best. I have been here for 15 years and wish I had come to work here sooner! Jesus Soto - Custodian Sierra High School and Donner Trail
What I love about my job is being around kids. I enjoy making them feel as special as they make me feel. I love to see them smile. Working with them helps me understand each of their personalities, and I encourage them to follow their dreams. Our students help make me a better person in general and a better mom. Patricia Virrey - Instructional Assistant Alder Creek Middle School
