Pianeta Italian Restaurant, located in historic downtown Truckee, is looking for an experienced and energetic Host to join our team. In this role, you have the important task of creating a great first impression with our guests. Being attentive, friendly, and solutions oriented, you’ll be instrumental in helping our guests feel welcome and excited for their dining experience. Experience & Skills You Possess:

• 5+ years experience in hospitality, preferably in elevated dining
• Experience in a host or maitre’d position is a plus
• Experience with effectively managing reservations and balancing walk-in’s
• Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and communicate clearly with FOH
• Technologically savvy – you know your way around basic apps and are proficient on email
• Takes initiative and has excellent problem-solving skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Experience with Toast a plus

Responsibilities You’d Take Pride In: (included but not limited to)

• Greet incoming and departing guests warmly, as you would your own friends & family
• Ensure guests are escorted to their tables & settled in with menus, specials, and who their server will be
• Understand the importance of professional, respectful, and clear communication both in person and while answering incoming calls before and during dinner service
• Support the team by:
  • Sharing needs of guests – ie: special occasions, dietary restrictions, and large party sizes to help servers successfully manage their area
  • Ensure tables are set-up, checking for cleanliness, neatness, and accurate table settings
  • Organize, stock and clean the front area

• Control the flow of the evening by managing when guests are seated and communicating accurate wait times
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, including the ability to tactfully handle the demands of a busy restaurant with limited seating
• Ability to roll with it and juggle requests & priorities to meet new circumstances with patience and grace
• Knowledge of all food and beverage menus, hours of operation, and relevant points of interest that may be asked by guests
