About the Organization: The Truckee Downtown Merchants Association (TDMA)is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization, comprised of local business members dedicated to the economic, social, and environmental vitality of Historic Downtown Truckee. Founded in 1969, the TDMA exists to foster small business in the Downtown while preserving Truckee’s history. (www.historicdowntowntruckee.com)

Position Summary: Historic Downtown Truckee Executive Director / Event MGMT

The Truckee Downtown Merchant Association is seeking a person to serve as Executive Director (“ED”). The ED manages and coordinates the efforts of the TDMA Board of Directors in achieving the goals of the organization. The TDMA follows the four points of the Main Street program in developing their strategies (www.mainstreet.org). In addition, the TDMA produces several special events throughout the year. Therefore, a significant portion of the responsibilities of the ED includes the management of those events.

Position Details:

Applicant will be employed by the TDMA. Services will begin in January/February 2024. Compensation will be based on experience and the scope of services.

The list below represents some of the essential duties, but is not all-inclusive:

  • Board Support: Work with the TDMA Board of Directors.
  • Event Mgmt: Produce TDMA Special Events (primarily Truckee Thursdays summer event).
  • Membership: Recruitment and Retention of TDMA Members.
  • Executive: Strategic Planning for the organization.
  • Beautification: Maintain and enhance the downtowns’ assets, including year-round and holiday lighting.
  • Administrative: Routine admin and fiscal duties in coordination with Treasurer.
  • Marketing: Promotion for the organization/downtown including printed, website and social media.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior non-profit experience & knowledge of non-profit governance protocols
  • Prior experience managing special events.
  • Grant writing and/or fundraising experience.
  • Prior marketing experience, including social media.
  • Proficient in using google docs, Microsoft Office and have general accounting skills.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently.

Pay: Up to $70,000.00 per year
