Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation is a local philanthropic and community based organization in Truckee, California. Our mission is to connect people and opportunities, generating resources to build a more caring, creative, and effective community.

Our team is seeking a highly motivated professional with leadership experience in Finance and Operations. The ideal candidate has prior work experience in managing complex business systems and financial reporting and analysis in the philanthropic sector. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and with professionals of all levels is a must. This position will report to and work closely with the CEO.  

Duties include:

  • Managing the operations of a mid-sized community foundation
  • Managing financial systems, including reporting and analysis
  • Overseeing back-office foundation services and human resources
  • Overseeing compliance of National Standards and other regulatory requirements
  • Staff lead on Finance Committee, Investment Committee and Audit Committee

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 7-10 years finance and operations experience in a leadership position or MBA. 
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Strong management skills, strategic and operational 
  • Comfortable working in diverse settings and groups
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Applications, accounting systems, financial reporting

Full-time position. Salary based on experience.

TTCF: Director of Finance and Operations

The Director of Finance and Operations ensures smooth operations and financial reporting of the Foundation.  They manage our Foundations Services Director and Accountant.  They are a critical partner for the CEO and the Board, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, strategic leadership and operational acumen. They also work with donors and fundholders to support their needs and to ensure that their user experience is easy, enjoyable, and meaningful.

Operations

  • Work with the CEO to ensure operations are optimized for long-term stabilization and growth of TTCF’s mission
  • Update Operations Manual and review annually with staff
  • Perform Annual Tech Inventory – Ensure staff team has access to adequate technology including computers, laptops, projector, phones, copier, and supporting software.
  • Annual monitoring and renewal of property lease(s)
  • Review, Finalize, and Track Contracts with the CEO.
  • Manage insurance review and interact with staff and board to negotiate
  • Responsible for establishing continued training and quality improvement with staff on operational functions

Financial Management

  • Collaborate with the CEO on financial reports, analysis and decision making for strategic direction.
  • Produce Financial Reports, prepare quarterly reports for CEO, Finance Committee and Board. 
  • Oversee Foundation Services Director, provide direction, identify priorities and find appropriate support from other staff during high volume times, such as Give Back Tahoe.
  • Work with auditors and audit committee as lead for annual audit.  Prioritize and utilize other staff support to complete the audit process in a timely manner.
  • Negotiate, manage and oversee contracts associated with operations and finance, including but not limited to Accounting Firm, CPA, Auditors, Software, etc. Optimize for the benefit of the Foundation.
  • Audit and oversight of Quarterly Fund Statements in collaboration with Foundation Services
  • Managing Fund Agreement documentation

Governance Support

  • Support the CEO and staff in Board Docket preparation and mission focus meetings and deliverables.
  • Serve as staff lead on Finance, Investment and Audit Committees. (Set calendar, work with CEO & Chair to develop agenda, capture minutes, etc.)
  • Support Foundation Services on annual process around compliance and disclosures.
  • Staff lead on National Standards governance certification for Community Foundations
  • Special Assignments

Programmatic Support

  • Support Community House projects such as annual budget review and preparation, governance compliance, lease negotiations and renewal, and special assignments.
  • Support documentation and reporting related to Mountain Housing Council, Community Collaborative, Mental Health efforts and other programmatic strategies related to separate funding streams.
  • Work with program staff to produce necessary reports for grant documentation and donor/community reports.

Donor Services

  • Oversite on production and distribution of Quarterly Fund Statements for donors.
  • Support donor cultivation activities such as Fund cultivation meetings and donor report requests.
  • Produce quarterly reports to inform key fundraising strategies and overall work plan goals.
